About

I started in the graphic arts field in 1975 working for Wright Printing in Van Nuys, CA. I was 17 at that time and the gentleman who took me under his wing was Frank Wright. He had been in the printing industry long before I was born. He taught me the old school ways of letterpress. In his words, ”If it ain't punching, it ain't printing.' And as it turns out, that's what people are looking for in letterpress printing today. A look you can only get from a die punching onto the paper. Quality and workmanship was his biggest traits that he passed on to me. In 1981, after Frank retired, I started Ames Letterpress to continue the craftsmanship of letterpress. Today we offer many services in the letterpress field. From foil stamping to die cutting to old school letterpress printing.
